Apple is preparing something big for the car industry
We have read a lot of reports about an Apple electric car in recent years, under the veil of mystery of Project Titan, which sometimes seems to be making progress and sometimes it has stagnated. But now a Reuters post offers more details. According to a Reuters source through Apple, the company will start production of its own electric car in 2024.
What stands out in the vehicle, is the ” revolutionary ” – as he calls it – battery technology that will use. This technology will allow Apple to incorporate more active material into the battery cell, giving the new car more range. Apple is also exploring the use of LFP batteries, which although not as dense as other types, are more temperature resistant and do not require cobalt.
If there’s one company on the planet that has the resources to do that, it is Apple. It is the next level. Like the first time you saw the iPhone. To have a viable manufacturing plant, they need to produce 100,000 cars a year, with the volume constantly growing.
The vehicle may also incorporate multiple LiDAR sensors to understand its environment, as Apple already has LiDAR suppliers due to the iPhone 12 Pro and iPad Pro. As for construction, Apple may turn to outside help.
Recently, Apple is researching about self-driving technology and A.I. for cars too. This means that another important goal for Apple is self-driving technology. And we won’t be surprised if in the future Apple aims for self-driving technology instead of Project Titan in the future.
The only sure thing is that for now, we will not know anything more, since Apple refuses to comment on anything related to Project Titan. All we can do is hope that it doesn’t cost “too much”.
