As if CD Projekt weren’t already busy enough with Cyberpunk 2077 to slowly bring it up to scratch, the developer’s servers have now also been recently hacked.
As CD Projekt writes on Twitter, the internal systems have been compromised and source codes for Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher 3, Gwent & Co. have been deleted. There is also talk of an unreleased version of The Witcher 3 . It was also possible to steal internal documents which are not intended for the public and which are now being used to put CD Projekt under pressure. This is blackmail.
The letter says that this will be made public and passed on to gaming journalists in order to expose CD Projekt as much as possible. As a result, the studio’s reputation is expected to decline even more and investors will lose confidence.
CD Projekt guarantees that you have the appropriate backups and that no personal data has been stolen. The hackers are apparently making demands, but they will not be discussed further in order not to endanger the further course of action. However, all necessary steps will be taken to mitigate the potential effects of the attack.
IT specialists and official authorities were also called in to investigate the incident. We will update you on further developments on this story.
