A couple of days ago Zendaya couldn’t quite confirm nor deny, the fact that there will be more than one Spider-Man in Marvel’s third movie adaptation with Tom Holland. Rumors indicating a multiverse are now well established.
It’s been confirmed that Alfred Molina will return for the sequel of “Far From Home” and will face Tom Holland’s Peter Parker as Doctor Octopus. Molina was seen on the set of the film several times before this was confirmed.
This announcement leaves little to the imagination of Marvel fans, even though Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures don’t want to talk about it openly.
Most of you guys will agree that Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2 is the best Spider-Man movie and most certainly the villain has something to do with this. Molina’s performance as Doctor Octopus really pushed Tobey Maguire’s Spidey to the limit.
The fact that Jamie Foxx’s Electro from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will also be joining the cast means that we will probably see all Spideys reunite in a Multiverse. Also worth noting is Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange, that will act as Tom Holland’s mentor.
Jon Watts will return as the director for the third Spider-Man, with Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers in charge of the script. Marisa Tomei, Zendaya and Jacob Batalon will also reprise their roles from the first two Marvel led Spider-Man films.
Tom Holland will naturally take on the role of Peter Parker. His first appearance as Spidey was in 2017 with Spider-Man: Homecoming. He appeared in the two final Avengers movies, to later return to the spotlight on 2019 with Spider-Man: Far From Home.
The yet untitled Spider-Man 3 is scheduled to premiere on December 17th 2021.
