The fact that a new Call of Duty will most likely arrive in 2021 is considered to be set. Concrete information about the successor to Black Ops Cold War is not yet available, but the first rumours are already making the rounds on the web.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is now the popular one, out of the first-person shooters of the series, since the launch in November. The fact that a new CoD game will succeed it, shouldn’t come as a surprise to many.
A leak on Reddit shows details regarding the next Call of Duty
The publisher, Activision, has not yet revealed any specific information, but there are already some rumours. As a now-deleted Reddit post shows, the next Call of Duty is intended to be set in fictional third world war in 2021 and is being developed by Sledgehammer Games. It is not known where the post creator gets his information from. Not even the usually well-informed ModernWarzone Twitter channel, cannot confirm or deny the speculations.
ModernWarzone announced via the short message service Twitter that it could not confirm a setting in a third world war, for all the leaker knows at least. “There are currently rumours that the next Call of Duty will take place in World War III and will be developed by Sledgehammer Games. We haven’t heard anything about this, but that doesn’t mean the rumours are false. We’ll let you know as soon as we get more information have”, writes ModernWarzone.
Tom Henderson, who is well-known in the CoD community, replied with a short “No” to a fan question whether the next Call of Duty would be in a third world war. However, he firmly believes that Sledgehammer Games is responsible for the development of the new Call of Duty. The information has not yet been confirmed. We’ll keep you as always up to date regarding any new developments in the story.
