According to a Deadline article, Netflix has stopped filming the new season that has been taking place in the UK for a long time due to multiple cases of COVID-19 that were found on the set. This pandemic really can’t catch a break huh?!
There are four confirmed cases of coronavirus in the set of the series and the streaming giant has made sure that everyone is self-isolating and individual coronavirus tests are being done. None of the main cast of the show is among the cases.
We hope that this development will not significantly affect production, which may need to be closed for two weeks to follow the prescribed protection protocols. However, the same post states that the shooting will restart as soon as Netflix, with the advice of experts, decide that the field is completely safe, so it remains to be seen what will happen.
A similar situation also happened in March, during the first wave of COVID-19, which saw filming halted when Kristofer Hivju (a.k.a Tormund in Game of Thrones, and the new character of the second season) tested positive shortly before the UK went into full lockdown. Production eventually restarted in August.
